Best Buy exchange program or Apple Care + or nothing at all?

I just upgraded my cell phone at best buy and they were offering me their best buy exchange program for $12.99 per month. Just curious what are your thoughts on this program, or is it better to just go with AppleCare+ for $99?

Or in your view are these types of insurance plans all a waste of money?
