Hey everyone, so I've been a lurking around RFD for a couple weeks and noticed how great of a community you guys are! And the deals, oh my the deals!!! Its come the time where I need help from some wizards. School is around the corner and I need a sub $650 laptop that would be usable with rendering, autocad, solidworks as well as light gaming. Now I've done my research but I need some more eyes. I tried to keep the laptops I chose to notably good brands (Saw a top 5 article labeling Lenovo, Asus, HP, Samsung, and Sony the top tier of laptops in the grand scheme of things) Also, with school approaching I figured who'd know better than when the appropriate deals start rolling in when it comes to laptops and school.
First question: I'm aware that quad cores are better for rendering than dual cores but is the processor speed more important (Ex. a A10 5750m @ 2.5 Ghz VS a i5 3777u @ 2.7)
Also: Are integrated graphics worth sacrificing more than cpu power? (Ex. is an i3 w/ great graphics a better choice than i5 w/ ok graphics?)
Finally - I've found these 4 laptops and would fancy a critique (These are in order of the ones I think are best-worst but would love to be corrected if I'm wrong or even have another suggestion. Again my budget is 650 MAX, I know better computers can be had in the 700 range but then for another 50 bucks I could get something even bettter :P I already upped it 50 bucks to accommodate the 650 sale laptops)
1. HP ENVY 15.6" Laptop - http://tinyurl.com/l2mjk5f_____________AMD a10-5750@2.5 / Radeon HD 8750M / 8 GB Ram / $650
2. ASUS 15.6" Laptop - http://tinyurl.com/kqez4mx______________Intel i5-3337u @2.7 / NVIDIA GT740M 2GB / 6 GB Ram / $600
3. HP Silver 17.3" - http://tinyurl.com/l2hveyz__________________AMD a10-5750@3.5 / Radeon HD 8650G / 8 GB Ram / $600
4. Toshiba S70D 17.3" - http://tinyurl.com/k5ya2gz_____________AMD a10-5750@2.5 / Radeon HD 8650G / 12 GB Ram/ $650
I was also reading that the A10 and Radeon graphics form like a crossfire-type graphics set-up, would that out weigh a GT740? I looked at notebookcheck.com and the GT740 is ranked 85 while the Radeon 8750 is ranked 104 but with the help of the A10 would that push it past the GT740?
Any help would be immensely appreciated. I tried to collaborate everything together so you guys didn't have to do MUCH searching around. Just need your brain power.
Thanks,
CharonTheBoatman
