My dad is building the basement and he wants to lay down a 50 foot HDMI cable.
After some research, it seems that at 50 feet, there is some signal degradation, but TVs can work with less than perfect signals, so instead of completely dropping the signal, the TV would have extrapolate for any lost data, sometimes resulting in a less than perfect picture quality?
Cat6 it seems, is able to deliver (at least closer than HDMI) a lossless picture, only after 250 feet will the signal start losing significant integrity?
Here's my dad's plan, instead of buying the cheapest HDMI 50 foot cable for $30 (which means bad quality, even though its pure copper and gold plated), he already has a cat6 cable, and he will lay it down and then buy 2 cat6 to HDMI converterson both sides so that they can connect to TVs/laptops?
I see that these converters will run me up around $15 each at the cheapest. Will this setup work? Are there any unforseen problems with this?
