I currently have a wired/wireless network on a Linksys E3000. I'm looking at purchasing a WD My Book External back up to the network to auto-backup home files (ie. Pictures).
The question is, is there much of a difference between plugging the External HDD to the router via an Ethernet or the USB port? (Note: I have a little 4 port Cisco switch on the router for my printer and SmartTV), the other 3 connections directly into the router for the PS3 and two hard wired systems).
The reason I ask is I think the availability of Ethernet appears to be the main difference on the My Book Essential and My Book Live.
(I'm also open to alternate HD mfg suggestions in the same price range as above)
Thank you,
