Need help buying my first tablet!!

I'm having a little difficulty in buying my first tablet.

I was very interested in buying the Blackberry Playbook but the lack of apps makes it seem quite boring. I figured maybe I should wait for Microsoft's Surface but I don't want to spend over $300 before taxes on the tablet.

I'm looking for a tablet that will take over my laptop and become the primary device I use to email, update my calender, edit documents, create presentations, watch videos, and listen to music.

I travel to China frequently and would prefer a tablet where I can get some sort of UltraSurf or HotSpot Shield type app so I can access blocked website.

What would you suggest? Should I get Blackberry Playbook? Or should I get,
