I'd like a home server for web development reasons running some form of Windows. Is it better to build my own from the ground up, or buy a cheap desktop (small form factor) in the BST or CL/Kijiji? My budget is 500$, but I seriously want it to be as close to 150-200$ as possible. Could I get the below for around that price?
CPU doesn't matter as long as it's at least dual core at 2.2ghz
Must have 8-16gb memory
GPU doesn't matter (integrated is fine)
Motherboard doesn't matter
PSU doesn't matter, but lower wattage is ideal
Form factor must be very very small (Bitfenix Prodigy small)
HDs don't matter for the most part; they need to have fast R/W speeds, but capacity can be as low as 100gb
Windows 7 (if only because I am most comfortable with this OS)
I was initially thinking of something like a 955BE, 8gb DDR3-1333, and any mobo with integrated graphics inside a Bitfenix Prodigy, but this will surely overshoot my budget. The key here is to keep it small, cool, and quiet; the specs largely don't matter as long as it has loads of memory.
